Female Religious Leadership in American History

Women have played a vital role in the religious history of the United States, serving as founders for new religious groups, like the Seventh-day Adventists, and leading religious-based movements, like the Temperance movement. Many have fought, and continue to fight, for the right to be ordained ministers. This learning module will cover the important role religious women have played in American history.

The ARDA Lesson Plans integrate content from the ARDA and other sources into teachable units. The lessons are designed for courses in a wide range of disciplines, including history, political science, psychology, religious studies, and sociology. This assignment was created for the Association of Religion Data Archives.
